Back at the dawn of the millenium, several republic.org users created a joint writing web exercise called Cant. This ran successfully from January of 2001 through the fall of 2007, at which point it had become clear that the proto-blogging homebrew software that Cant ran on had become eclipsed by widely available blogging software. And so, Cant was quietly retired.
