Shared iTunes: The easiest, and most voyeuristic, way to learn that your coworkers have seriously questionable taste in music.

("That's good...ok...meh...sure, that figures...good...oh. Maroon 5? Really?")

Embracing stereotypes

December 15th, 2008

Um...Republicans? You don't always have to act like evil, mustache-twirling villains, you know.

Although, yes, you are pretty good at it.

(12-15) 16:11 PST SACRAMENTO -- Republican state lawmakers unveiled a set of budget fixes today worth $22 billion that would avoid raising taxes, cut deeply into education spending and dip into voter-approved funds intended to pay for mental health services and children's health care.

Yes, because we're obviously spending too much money on education and health care. The near-total agreement on that was what swept McCain into office, right?

Random Music Recommendation

Things that make me feel old

December 10th, 2008

"Today is the 15th anniversary of the release of Doom..."

Damn. Really? 15 years ago I was in my third year of undergraduate. Which was, obviously, then occupied by lots of time spent playing Doom.

Heck, I still have my Doom disks. I wouldn't bet that they're readable though, and I don't have a 5 1/4" drive, anyway.

(Of course, Wolfenstein 3D is 16 1/2 years old...)

Rules that fit the game

"Mongoose Publishing has announced a host of projects for 2009 including a new Judge Dredd RPG, which will be based on the Traveller rules."

That's perfect: Of course the Judge Dredd RPG would use the ruleset that allows for characters to die during character creation.

Hell, they'll probably increase the chances of that happening. It'll be the rare character that survives to actually be played!
